Seventh International Conference on Atomic and Molecular Data and Their Applications (ICAMDATA 2010)

 

                   SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT

          Scope

 

ICAMDATA 2010 continues the series of international conferences since 1997 that promotes the use of atomic and molecular (AM) data in various fields of science and technology, and provides a forum for interaction of AM data producers and users. The conference will cover topics like:

 

I. Application and needs of atomic and molecular data:

·          Astrophysics and atmospheric physics

·          Inertial and magnetic fusion

·          Low and high temperature laboratory plasma and industrial plasmas

·          Lighting sciences and technology

·          Biomedicine and biophysics

·          Combustion and environmental sciences and technology

·          Surface physics, gaseous electronics, solid state optics and spectroscopy, optoelectronics, etc.

II. Atomic and molecular data production:

·           Data collection, assessment, exchange and dissemination

·          Standardization of data formats

·          AM databases, activities of data centers.

III. Experimental and theoretical methods for atomic and molecular data generation

·          Atomic and molecular structure, spectroscopy and radiative processes

·          Electron collisions with atoms and molecules

·          Heavy particle collisions

·          Particle - surface interactions.

 

The scientific program will include invited review lectures, progress reports and poster sessions. Both experimental and theoretical contributions are solicited. The preliminary list of invited speakers is as follows:

The official conference language is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

 

 

               Call for Papers

 

The abstract of your contribution (deadline for submission July 1, 2010) must not exceed one A4 page. Use the template given on the website (www.itpa.lt/icamdata2010). We ask you to submit your abstract by electronic means. We accept attached files in LaTeX and WORD-compatible format (load instructions for abstracts in LATEX and WORD). Please note that an accepted presentation cannot be included in the Program unless it is accompanied by a completed Registration Form with the appropriate payment of the presenting author.

 

 

               Proceedings

 

All invited speakers are asked to submit the manuscripts for publication in Conference Proceedings Book by the American Institute of Physics preferably by September 24, but not later than October 4, 2010. Please find the needed information at the following address: http://proceedings.aip.org/.

The full conference fee includes all registration materials, coffee breaks, a book of abstracts, Welcome Party on Monday, September 20, excursion to Trakai and Conference Dinner. For students, conference fee includes all the same except Conference Dinner. Students are welcome to participate in the Conference Dinner for an additional fee of 30€. Note that all prices (fees, etc) are subject to the Lithuanian VAT of 21%, which is already included in the given amounts. Students are asked to provide a letter of recommendation from their supervisor.

Please do not forget to indicate your name and the phrase "Registration Fee for ICAMDATA2010". Note that the total amount of fee you indicate in the Registration Form does not include the money transfer expenses that may occur, i.e. the total amount is a net sum that must reach our account. You may use the electronic banking system available at your site or arrange for the bank transfer from your account at your local bank office. We accept bank cheques sent in by registered mail, too, but add 5 € for banking charges (the mailing address for cheques is given at the end of this document). In exceptional cases, you can pay the fee in cash equivalent of 380 € in the local Lithuanian currency litas, LTL (1 € =3.4528 LTL) at the registration desk on the day of your arrival at the conference, but please let us know about that in advance when you register. In order to obtain a book of Conference Proceedings, the participants are kindly asked to add extra 35 € to the Registration Fee.

For payment by Credit Card, the form downloaded from the Conference website must be filled in and sent by fax +370 5 2125361 or its scanned copy attached to the e-mail akupl@itpa.lt together with the Registration Form.

In case you are cancelling your participation in the Conference, let us know in advance. Notification of cancellation must be done in writing and must arrive at the conference mail address before September 10, 2010. The organizers will deal with requests for refund only after the conference. Note that there will be no refund of the conference fee for cancellations received after September 10, 2010.

 

               Registration and Visas

 

Please register as soon as possible by submitting on-line the Registration Form (WWW). The Registration Form may be attached to the e-mail as well. Load Registration Form in WORD format. Please also indicate your preferences for the social and accompanying person program. Students are asked to send a recommendation of supervisor together with abstracts.


Lithuania is a member of the European Union and Schengen zone. Citizens of some countries may require visas to enter Lithuania. Please check with the relevant authorities if you need a visa and if so, apply to the closest Embassy or Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania. Please contact us (Dr. Olga Rancova, olga@itpa.lt) as soon as possible, if you need a letter of invitation for your visa application. The deadline is August 15, 2010.

 

               Insurance

 

The organizers cannot accept any responsibility for accidents of any nature, which might occur during the conference or any tours. Participants are strongly encouraged to secure their own health and travel insurance in their home country before departure.

 

               Conference Site

 

The conference will take place in the Palace of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences,  Gedimino avenue 3, Vilnius, Lithuania. It is in the city center and close to the hotels. You will find a detailed description of the access to the conference site on the website and in the Third Announcement.

 

               Accommodation and Meals

 

The local organizing committee recommends 4 hotels - “Amberton (Klaipeda)” (20 rooms reserved), “Novotel” (20 rooms reserved), “EuropaCity” (70 rooms reserved) and “Ecotel Vilnius” (25 rooms reserved) for the participants of the conference. Discounts for the participants of the conference (September 20-26) will be offered if reservations are made before July 31. When making the hotel reservation, please, write to the mentioned e-mails of hotels and indicate that you are a participant of the "ICAMDATA 2010" conference. All recommended hotels are about 2-3 km from the railway and bus stations and about 7-8 km from the airport. They are located in the Vilnius centre and at the walking distance to the Conference site.                Currency

 

The local Lithuanian currency is litas, LTL (1 € = 3.4528 LTL). Restaurants and hotels will, with a few exceptions, take major credit cards. Only Lithuanian currency can be used in Vilnius. ATM machines are available at banks and major stores.

 

 

 

               Travel

 

The Vilnius International Airport has (direct or indirect) flight connections with major European cities and further. A taxi or a bus is available from the Vilnius Airport to the hotels. The distance is about 6–8 km. The Vilnius Railway Station is closer to the city center (2-3 km), but you may still want to take a taxi or a trolleybus to reach your hotel.

Conference Dinner

 

The Excursion to Trakai on Wednesday afternoon is free for registered attendees of the Conference and accompanying persons. Trakai is the former capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania situated some 27 km west of Vilnius. The red brick 14th century castle situated on a tiny island in the middle of the lake (the only insular castle throughout Eastern Europe) will be an unforgettable experience.

On Saturday a post-conference all day tour will be proposed if a minimum number of participants will register. A trip to Kaunas, a second largest city of Lithuania, including a visit to an open-air ethnographic museum in Rumšiškės will take place. Rumšiškės is located 18 km east of Kaunas between the Kaunas-Vilnius motorway and the Kaunas Lagoon (Reservoir). The museum exhibits the past ways of living in Lithuania. Entire exhibiting and artifacts from towns, villages and farmsteads from all over Lithuania have been brought to this place and reassembled. The price will be approximately 50 €, including transportation by bus, lunch and English-speaking guide, and you will be asked to pay it at the registration desk upon your arrival.
